About Our Products

About Our Products

About Our Products

What is a complementary feeding stuff?

Our products are complementary feedingstuffs — the correct UK and EU classification for nutritional supplements added to your dog’s daily diet. They are not medicines and do not claim to treat, cure, or prevent any disease. They provide targeted nutritional support to help maintain normal, healthy function in dogs.

Are your products safe to use daily?

Yes. All four of our products are formulated for daily use. The ingredients are well-tolerated for long-term feeding in healthy dogs. Maximum Gut Health for Dogs and Maximum Joint Health for Dogs are designed as daily foundation supplements and are most effective when fed consistently over time. Maximum Focus & Calm and Gut Health Digest Plus can be fed daily or as needed depending on your dog’s situation.

As with any change to your dog’s diet, we recommend introducing a new supplement gradually over the first week – starting with half there commended feed rate and building up. If your dog is on any medication or has a health condition, check with your vet first.

Are your products vet approved?

Our formulas are developed in partnership with leading canine nutritionists and are produced to the highest quality standards in the UK. We work within the framework set by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) as complementary feeding stuffs. We always recommend consulting your vet if your dog has a specific health condition, is on medication, or you’re unsure which product is right for them.

Do your supplements contain any artificial additives, fillers, or allergens?

Our products do not contain artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. Maximum Gut Health for Dogs and Gut Health Digest Plus are both grain-free formulas. If your dog has a specific known allergy or sensitivity, please check the full ingredients list for that product before feeding, or get in touch and we’ll help you find the right option.

Can I feed more than one of your products at the same time?

Yes – our products are designed to work alongside each other. Many owners feed Maximum Gut Health for Dogs daily as a foundation, and add Maximum Joint Health or Maximum Focus & Calm based on their dog’s individual needs. The ingredients across the range are complementary and there is no concern about overlap or over-supplementation when fed at the recommended rates.

For dogs that are highly reactive or stressed, feeding Maximum Focus & Calm alongside Maximum Gut Health for Dogs provides stronger support for the gut-brain connection than either product alone. This combination works particularly well for dogs where anxiety and digestive sensitivity go hand in hand.

How long before I see results?

It depends on the product and your dog:

Gut Health: most owners notice improved stool consistency and fresher breath within 2–4 weeks of daily feeding. Skin and coat improvements often follow at 4–8 weeks.

Digest Plus: for acute digestive disruption, stool quality often improves within a few days. For dogs with ongoing anal gland issues, consistent daily feeding gives the best results over 2–4 weeks.

Joint Health: joint supplements work gradually as the ingredients accumulate in joint tissue. Most owners notice meaningful changes at 4–6 weeks, with continued improvement over 3–6 months. Consistency matters more than anything else.

Focus & Calm: most owners notice a meaningful difference in their dog’s composure within 2–3 weeks of daily feeding, with continued improvement over 6–8 weeks.

Feeding & Ordering

Feeding & Ordering

How do I know how much to feed?

Each product page has a full feed rate table showing the recommended daily amount by dog size and weight, along with how long each pack size will last at that rate. All our products come with a measuring scoop. Simply sprinkle the recommended amount over your dog’s food at mealtime – no mixing or preparation needed.

For Gut Health Digest Plus specifically, the feed rate is based on 3g per 5kg of body weight, so a 20kg dog would receive 12g per day.

Should supplements be given with food or on an empty stomach?

Always with food. Giving supplements with a meal improves palatability and absorption, and avoids the mild digestive sensitivity that a small number of dogs experience when a new supplement is introduced on an empty stomach.

Simply sprinkle over your dog’s normal meal.

What pack sizes do you offer?

Maximum Gut Health for Dogs, Maximum Joint Health for Dogs, and Maximum Focus & Calm are available in 400g and 1kg packs. Maximum Gut Health Digest Plus is available in 400g and 1kg.

We also offer a 200g pack of our standard products for owners of smaller dogs. This isn’t currently listed on our website as a standalone product due to shipping economics for small packs — but if you have a small dog and would like to try a 200g pack, please get in touch and we’ll sort it for you.

Can I return a product if my dog doesn’t get on with it?

Please get in touch if you’re not happy with your order for any reason – we’d rather talk it through and find the right solution than leave you with a product that’s not working for your dog. Contact us at [email protected].

Do you offer a subscription or auto-delivery?

We’re working on this – watch this space. In the meantime, the feed rate tables on each product page will help you work out exactly when you need to reorder so you don’t run out.

I have a question that isn’t answered here - how do I get in touch?

Gut health

Gut health

What is the difference between Maximum Gut Health and Gut Health Digest Plus?

Maximum Gut Health for Dogs is your dog’s daily gut supplement. It’s a prebiotic formula designed to feed beneficial gut bacteria, maintain a balanced microbiome, and support your dog’s overall wellbeing every day, long-term. Think of it as daily garden maintenance.

Gut Health Digest Plus is a targeted formula for when the gut needs more than maintenance. It adds pumpkin fibre, probiotic yeast, and mineral adsorbents to specifically support normal stool firmness, normal anal gland function, and digestive recovery after disruption. Use it short-term after antibiotics or illness, as needed when digestion is unsettled, or daily if your dog has ongoing soft stools or recurring anal gland issues.

Not sure which to start with? If your dog has a current digestive problem – loose stools, scooting, recovering from antibiotics – start with Digest Plus. Then continue with Gut Health for long-term daily support. Many owners keep both on the shelf.

My dog keeps scooting. Can your supplements help?

Scooting is often a sign that a dog’s anal glands are not emptying naturally during a bowel movement. One of the most common reasons for this is that stools are too soft to provide the natural pressure needed to support gland expression. Firmer, well-formed stools are generally better positioned to support the natural emptying of the anal glands.

Gut Health Digest Plus includes pumpkin fibre – the most widely used ingredient in anal gland support formulas – specifically to help support normal stool consistency and normal anal gland function. For dogs with recurring anal gland issues, daily feeding gives the best results.

If your dog’s anal gland issues are frequent, painful, or have resulted in infection or impaction, always speak to your vet in the first instance.

Can I give gut supplements during a course of antibiotics?

Yes – and this is actually one of the best times to use Gut Health Digest Plus.

Antibiotics can significantly disrupt the balance of gut bacteria, often leaving the digestive tract unsettled for some time after the course ends.

Gut Health Digest Plus contains probiotic yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), which has a key advantage over bacterial probiotic strains: it is not affected by antibiotics. Bacterial probiotics can be wiped out by the very antibiotics they’re trying to counteract — yeast-based probiotics survive the treatment and continue to support the gut throughout.

We recommend starting Digest Plus at the beginning of the antibiotic course and continuing for at least 2 weeks after it ends. Then transition to Maximum Gut Health for daily microbiome maintenance.

Is Gut Health really connected to my dog’s behaviour and mood?

Yes – and this is one of the most significant and under-appreciated areas of canine health. The gut and brain are in constant two-way communication. The gut produces the majority of the body’s serotonin, the neurotransmitter most directly associated with calm and emotional stability. The balance of gut bacteria also directly influences the signals sent to the brain via the nervous system. This is why a dog with ongoing digestive disruption may also seem anxious, reactive, or unsettled – and why supporting gut health is often a meaningful part of supporting calmer behaviour. It’s also the reason Maximum Focus & Calm includes gut support ingredients as part of its formula, and why feeding it alongside Maximum Gut Health can provide stronger results in highly reactive dogs.

Can puppies take gut supplements?

Yes. Maximum Gut Health for Dogs is suitable for dogs of all ages including puppies. The early months of a puppy’s life are actually a critical window for establishing a healthy gut microbiome, and supporting that process from the start can contribute to long-term digestive and immune health. Feed at the appropriate rate for your puppy’s current weight.

Can pregnant or nursing dogs take your gut supplements?

Maximum Gut Health for Dogs is suitable for pregnant and nursing dogs. The ingredients are well-tolerated and supporting the gut microbiome during this period can also benefit the developing puppies. As always, if you have any specific concerns about your dog’s health during pregnancy, speak to your vet.

Joint Health

Joint Health

Joint Health

What age should I start my dog on a joint supplement?

The honest answer is: earlier than most people think. The traditional view was to wait until a dog showed signs of stiffness. The current understanding among breeders and canine nutritionists is different – cartilage has no blood supply and repairs very slowly once it starts to wear. Supporting the nutritional environment for healthy joints before wear develops is always more effective than trying to restore it afterwards.

Our general guidance:

Large and giant breeds (Labradors, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Rottweilers, Great Danes, and similar): consider starting from 12 months – once growth plates have closed – as joint structures are under load from day one in these dogs.

Working and highly active dogs: from 12 months, as sustained physical demand accumulates over a career.

Medium breeds with no known predisposition: from 3–5 years as a proactive measure.

Any dog already showing signs of stiffness, hesitation on stairs, or reluctance to jump: start now, regardless of age.Always wait until growth plates have closed (typically around 12 months for most breeds, longer for giant breeds) before starting a joint supplement. If in doubt, ask your vet or breeder.

My dog is already stiff - is it too late for a joint supplement to help?

It’s never too late to start. While joint supplements work best before significant wear has occurred, the ingredients in Maximum Joint Health for Dogs support healthy cartilage, normal joint lubrication, normal collagen production, and antioxidant support for joint tissue – all of which remain relevant and beneficial regardless of age or current mobility.

Give it time joint supplements work gradually. Most owners of dogs with existing stiffness notice meaningful changes at 4–6 weeks, with continued improvement over 3–6 months of consistent daily feeding. The key is consistency.

If your dog has been diagnosed with osteoarthritis or hip dysplasia, always use alongside your vet’s guidance rather than instead of it.

Why does Maximum Joint Health contain ten ingredients rather than just glucosamine?

Because joint health involves multiple overlapping processes, and no single ingredient addresses all of them. Healthy joints depend on cartilage integrity, synovial fluid (the natural joint lubricant), collagen structures in tendons and connective tissue, and protection from oxidative stress – each of which needs different nutritional support.

Glucosamine alone contributes to cartilage maintenance but doesn’t support joint lubrication, collagen production, or the antioxidant environment around the joint.

International research consistently shows that a multi-ingredient approach delivers better outcomes for joint health than single-ingredient formulas. That’s why Maximum Joint Health for Dogs combines ten clinically studied ingredients, each with a distinct role.

Can I give joint supplements alongside my vet’s prescribed medication?

In most cases, yes – but always check with your vet first if your dog is on prescribed medication.

The ingredients in Maximum Joint Health for Dogs are generally well-tolerated alongside common medications, but your vet is best placed to advise based on your dog’s specific situation and prescription.

My dog is a large breed puppy. When should I start thinking about joint health?

Large and giant breed dogs carry more body weight through their joints from day one, and joint wear accumulates earlier than in smaller breeds. Leading breeders now routinely advise starting a joint supplement once growth plates have closed – typically around 12 months for most large breeds, and up to 18–24 months for giant breeds like Great Danes and Mastiffs.

Don’t wait for the limp. Cartilage doesn’t have a blood supply – it repairs slowly and incompletely. The best time to support your large breed dog’s joints is from the start of adult life, not after stiffness appears.

Focus & Calm

Focus & Calm

Focus & Calm

Will Focus & Calm sedate my dog or change their personality?

No. This is the question we hear most often about this product – and the answer is important. Maximum Focus & Calm does not contain any sedating compounds. It works nutritionally – supporting the normal production of calming neurotransmitters, contributing to normal nerve function, and helping maintain the gut-brain balance that settled behaviour depends on.

The result owners describe is not a dulled or drowsy dog. It’s the same dog – just without the overwhelm. A dog that can actually settle, respond to their environment without tipping over, and engage with training more effectively.

My dog is really anxious - will a supplement actually make a difference?

For many dogs, yes – particularly when used consistently as part of a daily routine. Maximum Focus & Calm addresses the nutritional foundation that calm behaviour depends on: the nervous system’s access to the building blocks for calming neurotransmitters, the hormonal stress response viaashwagandha, magnesium, and nerve-supporting B vitamins, and the gut-brain connection via prebiotics and probiotic yeast.

For dogs with significant anxiety, we always recommend working alongside a qualified behaviourist or vet. Nutritional support works best when it’s part of a wider plan — it addresses the biological foundation, not the training side.

Many owners find their dog becomes genuinely more receptive to training once the nutritional baseline is supported.

Why does a calming supplement contain gut support ingredients?

Because the gut and the brain are in constant two-way communication, and the gut produces the majority of the body’s serotonin – the neurotransmitter most directly associated with calm and emotional stability. A stressed dog disrupts their gut. A disrupted gut amplifies stress. It’s a cycle.

Maximum Focus & Calm includes foundational gut support (prebiotics and probiotic yeast) to maintain the nutritional environment that the nervous system depends on. It’s not a coincidence — it’s central to how the formula works.

For most dogs, the gut support built into Focus & Calm is enough. For highly reactive dogs or those where stress and digestive sensitivity go hand in hand, feeding Focus & Calm alongside Maximum Gut Health for Dogs provides a higher level of gut microbiome support – and owners consistently report better results with the combination.

Can I use Focus & Calm just for specific events like fireworks or travel?

You can, but it works significantly better when fed daily rather than just situationally. The ingredients – particularly ashwagandha, magnesium, and the B vitamins – build their effect over time as they support the nutritional balance the nervous system depends on. A dog fed Focus & Calm consistently for 2–3 weeks before a stressful event will respond noticeably better than one given it on the day alone.

For dogs that are only occasionally stressed (e.g. annual fireworks), we recommend starting daily feeding at least 2–3 weeks before the anticipated event and continuing through the stressful period.

Is Focus & Calm suitable for rescue dogs?

Yes – rescue dogs are one of the groups that benefit most. The transition to a new home involves multiple simultaneous stressors: new environment, new people, new routine, new smells. This is exactly the kind of sustainedpressure that the nervous system and gut-brain connection need nutritional support through. Many rescue organisations and fosterers now recommend calming supplements as a standard part of the settling-in period.

Feed daily from day one, and give it at least 3–4 weeks to build. Combine with calm, consistent routine and positive reinforcement for the best results.
